Operation Live Link

Hi All-

A friend forwarded me a number to call to report any suspicious activity. Information below:

Operation Live Link has reached it's 2 year anniversary. Operation LiveLink is a public safety program piloted in Mt. Pleasant. MPNA launched Operation LiveLink in partnership with MPD to enhance community policing, improve response time when reporting crime incidents or suspicious activity to the police, and provide the police with a tool to do their job better. MPNA provided 2 cell phones which were given to 2 officers – one on foot beat and one in squad car. The program is operational daily between the hours of 7am and 11pm. If someone sees a crime in progress or suspicious activity in Mt. Pleasant, they can dial 202-689-4277 or 4278 to link directly to an officer assigned to patrol our neighborhood. This program is not meant to replace 311 or 911. One must still report a crime or suspicious
activity to 311 or 911. Often descriptions of suspects or of elicit behaviour is lost as they make their way from the 311 or 911 operator to the dispatcher and then finally to the officer dispatched to answer the service call. This can be avoided by
making the direct call to an officer via the LiveLink program. Monetary donations for the LiveLink fund and volunteers are greatly appreciated to keep this program operating and also to fund and implement more extensive marketing and public awareness initiatives about LiveLink. Checks can be made out to MPNA and mailed to PO Box 21554Washington DC 20009.
