What to do Next?
The NW Current called me today and asked if they could interview me about the site and my plans on what to do next. It made me think about next steps. So, here is what I came up with as I walked home from the metro today:
1. More publicity. We need volunteers to post signs in their buildings and around the neighborhood about this website and our mission to fight crime.
2. Accountability. We have to figure out how to get up to date stats from the police on where and when muggings and break ins happen.
3. Training. We need the police and local safety experts to inform our residents on how to react to muggings and how to most effectively help catch these criminals.
4. Get to know each other. I have read that crime significantly decreases if the local residents have a cohesive community that communicates well and takes care of the neighborhood. I want to figure out how we can do that better and neighbors create stronger bonds. I am thinking a neighborhood portal or something.
If you would like to help with any of these steps, please let me know. My wife and I can't do it all, so please volunteer. I hope to go over all of this on Dec. 18th.
