On Saturday, Jan. 5, I was at a stop sign on 17th and Euclid, NW in my car when someone in a black SUV pulled out a handgun and fired three shots towards the sidewalk on Euclid. Naturally, I was stunned so it took me a few seconds to figure out what was going on. When I finally figured out that this was a drive-by, I looked at the sidewalk and noticed three guys in black winter jackets running from the bullets. The driver of the SUV quickly made a U-turn and sped off. Scared for my life, I quickly hit the gas pedal and sped off myself. Soon after, I called 311 and reported what I had seen. Unfortunately I did not catch the license plate on the SUV and only have a vague recollection of the shooter, but needless to say I am shocked at what took place. I never expected to witness a drive-by shooting in my own neighborhood! I checked the news yesterday and did not notice any coverage of this incident, but I wanted to let you all know so we can add this to our evergrowing list of crime in Adams Morgan. This has got to stop!
