Let's keep it going
The crime wave from Nov/Dec appears to have subsided, probably in no small part due to all the attention Jonathon was able to generate. But let's not get complacent. It looks like we've just gone back to our "normal" baseline rate of robberies, which is still too high. I recommend playing with the excellent MPD database at crimemap.dc.gov. Adams-Morgan is Police Service Area (PSA) 303.
Here are robberies in 303 during each of the last 3 months (plus the corresponding month from the preceding year in parentheses):
Nov '07 -- 24(13)
Dec '07 -- 14(15)
Jan '08 -- 9(12)
Feb '08 so far -- 3(3)
You can also look at crime maps at that site. Robberies appear to be very evenly distributed over 303, with as many in residential areas as in the busy commercial corridor.
